we always love this time of year! the food, the fun, the weather – can’t beat it!
we kicked our fourth of july (first of july i guess…) holiday off with a party at my parents’ house. every year they have a huge party with family and friends! lots of swimming and sun and fried fish and, of course, fireworks. the best! AND to top it off, my sis & brother-in-law had their gender reveal. it’s a BOY! cannot wait!
on the actual fourth, we kept it low-key. the kids had a pretty crazy weekend with lots of late nights and a ton of sweets. my parents invited us over for a bbq, swimming, and some small fireworks for the kids. everett had lots of fun doing ‘sparklies’. eleanor really wanted to do it herself, but girl is a little crazy – so maybe next year!
we actually left before dark to get home so we could all see our neighborhood fireworks, but both kiddos fell asleep on the way home… so andrew & i took the opportunity to drink a few cold beers on the front porch while watching everyone’s firework displays. a perfect way to spend our last holiday at our first home.
i hope you enjoyed the fourth with your family & friends!!

*special shout out to my cousin, jordan: thank you for your service! love you and can’t wait to have you home SOON!*
