i’m pretty particular when it comes to buying makeup. and i usually buy from department stores, ulta, or sephora. BUT there are some items that i do find myself using quite often and they come right from the drugstore!
1 | wet’n’wild highlighting powder:
this was such a random find! i was in a pinch because my favorite it cosmetics highlighter ran out (and, of course, they don’t sell it alone…only in a compact). so i ran into a local store and grabbed this gem in blossom glow. it is so pretty! i use it every single day in the inner-corners of my eyes, on my brow bones, and on my cheek bones. best part(s): it lasts all day and is so inexpensive!
2 | honest beauty cream blush:
i’m a sucker for blushes. if you go back and read any previous beauty posts – you will see the evidence. i love the way this one applies. it stays put all day long, too, which can be tough with cream blush. i got the peony pink shade, but the coral peach is on my list, too.
3 | physicians formula eye booster eyeliner:
this is my ride or die eyeliner. i have been using it for YEARS and have a hard time grabbing anything else. it’s so easy to work with. the length of the applicator makes it super easy to hold and the formula doesn’t run throughout the day. i’m tellin’ you: i’ve worn this through weddings, funerals, and birth THREE times! it’s awesome stuff.
4 | e.l.f. clear lash & brow mascara:
super cheap and works amazingly well! i only use this to keep my brows in place after i’m done filling them in (not on my lashes). the product lasts all day and doesn’t make your brows shiny or ‘crunchy’ at all. this little tube will last you for a while.
5 | loreal lash paradise mascara + voluminous primer:
i am VERY picky when it comes to my mascara. it can’t clump or flake or be too thick. i love this combo from loreal. the primer really helps the mascara do its job. my lashes look incredible with this formula! i was a departent store only mascara until i found this combo. it’s definitely a favorite.
6 | maybelline instant age rewind concealer:
i use this everyday. it covers the ever-present dark circles under my eyes and apparently has age-fighting benefits (why not?!). it is easily layered and blends well. i find many concealers tend to get goopy or gather in those little fine lines under my eyes. this concealer doesn’t do that. the formula seems a bit thinner, but covers well…if that makes sense. i don’t wear a hard-line eyeliner on my bottom lash line, so i can’t speak to the wearability on that, but i never have any problems with this staying put all day.
7 | honest beauty everything eye shadow palette:
this is new find. i first picked it up because of the copper tones but then have ended up really loving the other pots, too! the color tones range from a lighter to a darker neutral base – which is right up my ally! the copper colors are so pretty without being too much. i haven’t done a dramatic eye with the palette yet, but i think it has some good potential!
8 | sonia kashuk brushes:
LOVE these brushes. i have a ton of makeup brushes from higher-end brands and while they all have their perks, their price-point is a little ridiculous at times. the sonia kashuk lines are amazing. they last forever and provide great application. they are very affordable and are really great to build your brush arsenal!
some other mentions that aren’t pictured because my purse was in my car…
revlon kiss cushion lip stains:
i am a lipstick fanatic. rarely do i not have a color on my lips. i found the revlon lip stains forever ago, but they reformulated them most recently to more of a ‘tint’. i have SEVERAL colors and they all wear so well. pink irl and berry lit are two of my favorites!
covergirl trunaked nudes palette:
this is another daily go-to. the shades wear and blend nicely. the colors are neutral but buildable. great array of colors – some matte and some with a hint of shimmer. if you have been lusting over the urban decay basics palette, but maybe can’t afford it – this is a great alternative!
i know getting good cosmetics can be a little bit of a budget buster at times. the drugstore brands have really stepped up their game and i am finding more and more great options out there!
