little smiles.

Everett is doing more and more every day. I could sit and stare at him for hours! He has always been a smiley baby, but now he has found his voice. He coos and makes little noises the majority of the time that he is awake. The kid seriously wakes up happy – every single time. I wish I could instantly pop out of bed with a smile on my face and no bags under my eyes!

Now that he is more aware of the world around him, he is actively taking an interest in his surroundings – watching Andrew and I when we walk in front of him, smiling when we are talking to him, paying attention to the dog or the TV. It is almost as if he is trying to say something back – because he is a genius baby and can understand what we’re saying, right? Right.

He is SO dangerously close to laughing out loud – I can’t stand it! I’m just waiting for him to burst into laughter. When I think it is about to happen, I break out the video camera to capture this ‘first’ and, of course, he clams up and just stares at me. I am determined to catch it!

By the way…

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

One of my best friends in this world is flying in from New York City. While I’d love to say that she is here to spend all of her time with me, she is actually meeting Rett for the first time. I am beyond excited to see her gorgeous face and introduce her to her nephew.

I hope you enjoy the weekend! Don’t forget to remember the importance of what this weekend means – God bless our soldiers.
