I have two major obsessions: nailpolish and makeup. Today I have to tell you about a new makeup LOVE I found. I have recently fallen for two products that are new finds for me. They are both by TARTE. This company is amazing. It is a cruelty-free cosmetics company and they never test on animals. They also make all of their products without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, and gluten.

The two products you see pictured above are Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation and Amazonian Butter Lipstick.

I have been an avid user of Bare Minerals for years now. I love that it is a natural product and always found that the coverage was perfect for my complexion. I do like to mix up my mediums (powder to liquid foundations), but for the most part – Bare Minerals is my jam. Ever since Rett was born, I felt like my powder wasn’t covering nearly as much. I also developed extremely dry skin and a small pregnancy mask on my nose. So I began my search for another powder foundation. The summer months are upon us here in Missouri, so I wanted something light (in powder form) with better coverage that had more moisturizing components – but with natural ingredients. My search led me to the amazing Amazonian Clay Foundation collection. I am IN LOVE. The coverage is spectacular, but still light. It has a hint of shimmer, so it gives that nice healthy glow. The range of color options made my match even more perfect. Not to mention, my skin hasn’t shown a hint of dryness when wearing. It even lasts all day without any touch-ups.

There is a brush that is recommended to use with the foundation. It is called the Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush. I did not purchase this brush just yet. I decided to use my full-coverage Bare Minerals foundation brush. After using the foundation with MY brush, I think that I would get even better results with the bamboo brush. It is much softer and a more dense brush in general. Stay tuned for a review on that later, as that will be my Mother’s Day gift to myself!

The lipstick shown – WOW. I am a lipstick lover and this stuff is like butta. No kidding. The array of colors is fabulous. I decided to get a nice, simple color to start with. I am all about neutral and this color is perfect. It is called Angelic Nude. It has a hint of peachy-pink and is a perfect lip color to go with light or heavy makeup. The wear is great. It isn’t a stain, so I do have to reapply after eating. Beyond that, it stays on and does not dry my lips out. And did I mention that the color is perfect? Well, it is.

I have a feeling I will be reviewing more Tarte products in the near future. They have a great Amazonian Clay Blush that lasts for 12 hours – what!?! Don’t worry…I have one on the way.

Many people with dry skin hear that powder foundations are a no no. However, as a former skin and makeup specialist for a cosmetic company, I can tell you that it is all about your skincare…how you are moisturizing, exfoliation, and how you are applying the makeup. The right skin prep, along with a good brush to apply, can go a long way with the way the makeup wears on you. With that being said, I do have a regimen that I stick very closely to, but this makeup, on its own, is excellent. I have no unevenness, no dry patches, and no oily patches at all! I would recommend going into your local Sephora or another Tarte vendor to see if they can apply the foundation on you, wear it for a day, and decide if you like it. I always like to try before I invest in a new makeup or tool. I hope you love it too!
